To my friends at St. Ann’s
I want to say thank you to everyone here at St. Ann’s. I have been here for 11 of my 21 years as a priest, and it has been a wonderful home to me. You have made me humble. Through your graciousness and through the gift of celebrating so many sacraments with you, you have shown me how to live and have guided me each day.
I am nothing without those around me. I am like a stalk of corn in a field - alone, I cannot stand - but, with everyone around me, I become strong; the wind and the rain cannot crush me when I have others who stand with me. I learn things from everyone - from our school children, from Monsignor Coyle, and from all of you. We stand by one another and walk together to holiness. You teach me how to live a holy life.
You know what I say: “Don’t think much; love much.” Be pure of heart, focus on loving one another, give freely of yourself, and love everything that you do. Your family is love. I think of St. Therese of Lisieux, the Little Flower, reminding us that love can accomplish all things. Love with all your heart. It will bring you closer to Jesus.
I want to especially thank Monsignor Coyle. His kindness to me these past few years has been a big part of my life. He has treated me like a real brother, and I mean that sincerely. He has given me respect, patience, and guidance. I cannot thank him enough for his kind spirit.
With gratitude, love, and blessings to all. I will continue to pray for everyone here at St. Ann’s.
