At Confirmation we are spiritually strengthened with the gifts of the Holy Spirit we first received at Baptism: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. Confirmation completes our initiation in to the Catholic Church begun at Baptism.

Children who are baptized usually receive the sacrament of Confirmation at the end of 8th grade, provided the child has attended 7thand 8th grade religious education classes and fulfilled the requirements for reception of Confirmation.

Adults who were baptized in the Catholic Church, or adults wishing to join the Catholic Church can be Confirmed after attending of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) meetings.
