We receive Sacraments throughout our lives to strengthen us to live as followers of Jesus. Sacraments help us to experience the unseen reality of God. While God is all around us, our limited human senses cannot comprehend Him directly.

WHAT ARE SACRAMENTS?

God recognizes how important our senses are to us. So, in the Sacraments, we hear words, see, smell, taste, and feel things like water, wine, bread, oil, and light that take us beyond our senses into actual contact with the living God and His Church. The Sacraments of the Catholic Church use these physical elements to make the invisible reality visible.

The Catholic Church Has 7 Sacraments:

  • 3 Sacraments of Initiation - Baptism, Holy Communion, Confirmation
  • 2 Sacraments of Healing - Reconciliation (Confession), Anointing of the Sick
  • 2 Sacraments of Service - Marriage, Holy Orders
